Privacy Notice

Finding Freedom Trading is a small, invite-only portfolio tracker. This notice explains what personal data it collects, why, and what rights you have over it, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who controls your data

Finding Freedom Trading is run by a single individual, not a company, for a closed group of friends and family, and is the data controller for anything you enter. Reach out directly with any privacy question or request at findingfreedomtrading@gmail.com.

What data is collected

  • Your account email address, and a password if you sign up that way instead of with Google.
  • If you sign in with Google, only your email address is used to identify your account; no other Google profile data is stored.
  • The investment positions you enter yourself: ticker, entry price, amount invested, and entry date.
  • Sale records you create (shares sold, exit price, proceeds, and realized gain/loss), kept as a running history.
  • Your zone display and detection preferences (timeframe, naming style, colors, marking method, displacement size, invalidation rule) and, if you opt in, an email address to send zone alerts to.
  • Price zones the app calculates for tickers you hold, derived entirely from public historical price data, not from anything personal about you.
  • Timestamps for when you accepted the informational-use disclaimer and completed setup.
  • Your subscription status from Whop (active/inactive and a membership id), matched to your account by email, so the app knows whether to grant access.

The app never collects or asks for bank account numbers, card numbers, or any other payment credentials directly; subscription payment is handled entirely by Whop.

Why this data is processed, and the legal basis

Your account, holdings, sale history, and preferences are processed to provide the service you're using, on the basis that this is necessary to perform the arrangement between you and Finding Freedom Trading (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Your opt-in email address for zone alerts is processed on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw anytime from Settings. Zone calculations use only public market price history and don't require any of your personal data as an input.

Who else sees it

Nobody on the app can see your positions, zones, or history except you, unless you've specifically set up a shared household with someone else (e.g. a spouse), see the User Guide for how that works. Beyond that, a small number of service providers process data on our behalf, strictly to run the app:

  • Supabase, for account authentication and database hosting.
  • Vercel, for hosting the application itself.
  • Resend, to send zone alert emails, only to people who opted in.
  • Whop, to process subscription payments and report active/inactive status.
  • Public market data sources (e.g. Yahoo Finance, Stooq), which receive only ticker symbols, never anything about you personally.

These providers may process data on servers outside the European Economic Area (including in the United States). Each of them offers its own safeguards for cross-border transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses; we haven't independently audited them beyond what they publish, given the small, non-commercial scale of this project, so reach out if more detail is needed before using the app.

Cookies

The app sets only the strictly necessary session cookies used to keep you signed in (via Supabase Auth). There are no advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies of any kind.

How long data is kept

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and the data tied to it removed, email findingfreedomtrading@gmail.com and it will be deleted, typically within a few days. If you share a household with someone else, data you both jointly own may be retained for the remaining member unless you both request otherwise.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data held about you.
  • Correct any of it that's inaccurate.
  • Request its erasure ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, for anything based on consent (like email alerts).
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

To exercise any of these, email findingfreedomtrading@gmail.com. As this is a small, manually operated project rather than a company with a dedicated privacy team, requests are handled personally, and you'll get a response without undue delay.

Automated processing

The app automatically flags when a ticker you hold trades into a calculated price zone. This is purely informational and doesn't produce any automated decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you: it never buys, sells, or acts on your behalf, and nobody's account, pricing, or access is determined by it.

Children

This app isn't intended for use by anyone under 16.

Changes to this notice

If what's collected or how it's used changes meaningfully, this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Significant changes will also be communicated directly to existing users.
